Our school is located in a rural community, and mostly accommodates low income families that are at or below poverty level. Our school has 100% free lunch status, and budgets are extremely tight. Many of our students have self esteem and discipline issues, and need constructive outlets for their energy. The students at our school are searching for positive outlets for their creative talents, and really excel when given opportunities to express themselves through the arts. We have found that music in our school has had a positive influence on discipline, self esteem, and academic progress. We want to see our students be successful, and we know that music can give them success in school as well as life, through the rigors of the disciplines of music.
