Our high school is one the most diverse in the state. Yes, it is a high poverty school, but it also includes students from all walks of life and even from all kinds of countries. Many languages are spoken in our halls, and we have to deal with many cultures. We are a fabulous melting pot, but this means the kids come to us with a wide variety of math and reading skills. The challenge is getting them all to participate and want to learn science. We work hard to get them to have fun and to want to learn science while practicing math, writing, and reading. Most are well aware of the benefit of receiving a high school or higher degree, and they work hard to make that a reality while often dealing with negative issues and influences outside of school. Many of these students have experienced so much already, and our faculty is proud to be a part of their lives while helping them get an education.
