I teach in an inner city school. My students live, grow up and know each other and their surroundings all of their lives. Creativity comes with exposure to life and the world around you. Many of my students have not been exposed to any life outside of the housing authority that they live in. I believe the more that they write, the more they can find the creative side of life. Each child is filled with experiences that I have never been exposed to in my 42 years of life. I want them to take those experiences and create a life with wonder through reading and writing. Writing is a creative process that allows a person to escape and explore a life that may not be possible in the world that they live in now. I want my students to know that your surroundings do not decide your future, You do!
