My school is a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) magnet school located on the outskirts of an economically distressed urban center. My students are incredibly diverse in terms of economic, social, and racial background. They all have on thing in common: they all love science (especially life science), and they all love animals. My class is full of future doctors, vets, medical researchers, animal trainers, and nurses. They love science, but I know it is important that they love reading and writing, too!
