My 3rd and 4th grade students love to explore computer programming. They experienced coding this year for the first time and really enjoyed it. Many of my students do not have computers at home so it is really important to them to learn computer skills at school.
My students attend one of the most diverse school districts in the United States. I have students from various socioeconomic backgrounds and from numerous cultural backgrounds. 90% of the students in my current classroom speak languages other than English at home. Eighty percent of the students receive free and reduced lunch. In addition to my regular classroom I work with a mixed group of STEM / STEAM students in grades 2-5. Our school climate encourages all students to explore science, math, and technology throughout their learning.
