My students LOVE to read. Many times I have to tell them to stop reading so we can work on other material! I want to add to our library so I can have more books available for my students. Many have to share but having your own book is a wonderful feeling. My goal is to increase interest in reading. The more students read, the more vocabulary they are introduced to. This helps with reading comprehension and will increase PSSA scores. Students will be able to use the books for independent reading as well as for reading at home. Reading comprehension is a lifelong skill and increasing reading engagement at a young age will improve reading skills. The more options I have for students the more they will read.
Children who connect with meaningful reading materials experience greater reading achievement and reading stamina will increase. The amount that a child spends actively reading can be a significant indicator of this reading achievement.
Fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary increase when students have a greater desire to read more regularly.
As reading skills improve, students are better prepared to comprehend other classroom reading materials and subjects.
