We are an urban, low-income school, and most students have few opportunities to access nature and pets. All of our students are learning in English and Spanish, so we ordered bilingual books in different levels. Our students need to have "hands-on" experiences and also to read texts in both languages. This project will improve their academic vocabulary and increase their enthusiasm and respect for science and nature. Students are curious by nature, and I want to encourage them to try STEM careers. When they do, they care, and when they know they can make the change happen. Having living things and books is a perfect learning cycle, they will acquire and experiment knowledge and will solve real problems. The frog books and the Raise a Frog kit will give us just what we need.
