Our school is the only arts magnet school in our town. We use the Bank Street method of learning which teaches children to become lifelong learners by interacting with their environment (people, places, and things) and interpret experience.
Children are encouraged to take ownership of their learning. Classrooms are organized so that teaching strategies encourage students to make discoveries, observations and explorations. We are also a H.O.T. School which means that our approach to learning is hands-on with an arts integration focus.
We offer an Enhanced Curricular Hot Opportunities (ECHO) program which allows students to participate in an activity of interest such as creative writing, human relations, yoga and photography. During this program, the students meet every other week and spend 90 minutes in their chosen activity. Fifth grade students can participate In the photography program, called Photofun in which they learn to use cameras to document the other ECHO programs.
