My school is in an urban area. Our school population is a diverse multicultural group of motivated learners. Our district consists of a high population of English Language Learners as well as students in high poverty.
My students are a wonderful group of kids that are so eager to learn. They have a huge amount of energy, and trying to keep them focused on putting that energy into learning can be a challenge some days. So being an active and engaged learner is very important. Whenever possible I include manipulatives, whiteboards, technology, and other types of engaging materials. It is difficult with our school budgets to get supplies replenished or any materials donated.
