Flexible seating is important in every classroom. In my classroom, these resources will have multiple purposes. My students have weak core muscles which hinder every aspect of gross motor functioning. These seats will make my students balance therefore strengthening these core muscles. These seats will also help those with short attention spans stay on task longer by being able to wobble or bounce on their seats instead of getting up out of their seats. These flexible seating options will also make our classroom and reading centers more inviting. At least one 45 minute segment a day, a group of students has to work independently. By being able to choose the seating options, this will help them to stay on task and be excited about independent centers. Flexible seating gives students options in order to have a more comfortable and fun way to learn while also working on those much needed motor skills.
