This project incorporates Washington State History with reading and writing. Students understand and remember material better when it relates to their lives. This project helps social studies concepts come to life.
Students interview community and family members to learn about their personal immigration stories. They integrate these ideas with their reading about history. They will come to understand that our region is home to many cultures, and they are part of that diversity. The culminating event is a community celebration. Families and other community members come to walk through the poster gallery and listen to students' presentations.
We will use our new supplies to make posters and brochures to share our learning. Students will learn more about art and technology as we refine our projects.
