I teach Kindergarten at a very large and diverse school. We are a Title 1 school with almost 80% of our students qualifying for the free and reduced lunch program. For many of my students, I am their first teacher. They have not been to Pre-K or other school readiness programs. Half of my students this year are English Language Learners. Some of my students are completely bilingual and two of my students speak three languages fluently. We have over 10 countries represented in our class.
Because many of them are new to English and they have never been in school before, it takes a lot to keep them focused on their independent work. They are constantly knocking over chairs on accident and dancing at their table spots to keep busy while working. This becomes a problem because their are so many of them! Bouncy Bands will give them the ability to move while they learn and engage in their work while maintaining a safe and productive classroom environment.
