My students are amazing people! The other day, one of my sixth graders asked if YOLO (you only live once) was Arizona's state motto. They make me laugh every day (and sometimes clench my jaw). My students are kind, curious, and of course not without their faults. I've had students who are monolingual and only speak Spanish, which can be challenging as well as very rewarding.
My school is a Title 1 school, with a low income population and 95% free and reduced lunch. (We also receive free breakfast now, too.) In the past few years, we went from a failing school to a "B" school presently, which I am very proud of. Our school has a high Hispanic and ESL (English as a second language) population.
