My students are excited to learn and experience new ideas in math education. I teach in a school with over 50% free and reduced lunch and our neighborhood had the most foreclosures in the state of Colorado. They are beginning middle school often feeling defeated because of lack of opportunity at home and I don't want that to be the same at school.
