My students are funny, creative, and excited about everything! Ninety percent of my class are students of color from a high poverty area of South Seattle. Some of students are living in their cars or shelters, and many students get one hot meal a day, which is from school. My school has close to 500 students! To fit all of the first graders into one pod, we have converted an old closet into a classroom, which is where I teach. We are a small space, and it can get pretty loud in here, but we rock out every day to music about math, letters, and science. Whenever they leave, I always get big hugs and smiles which lets me know they love school and they love to learn.
