I have a class of 7 special education students, 4 boys and 3 girls that are all in the Autism Program. My students are all African American and live in a low economically functioning community, therefore they are financially unable to access technology based resources and have very limited exposure to techonolgy outside of the school. My students are hard working and put forth much effort but they have unique styles of learning, this population are more visual and auditory learners and thrive on the stimulation that technology can bring to not only their learning, but to their every day lives. The use of tabletsin my class would open a new world up for them, it will motivate their learning of the curriculum providing lifelong learners and help to create productive members of our society. This will prepare them to survive in a technology driven society.
