Our small high school is located in a suburban area outside of a major city. Parents and many students commute to the city for work. Incomes in the area are average, but declining enrollment at the high school has sapped financial resources, resulting in smaller budgets that make the purchase of quality equipment difficult or impossible.
Academics remain strong at the school, but home sales in the area declined when the recession hit, and the school's numbers have not yet rebounded.
The staff at our school are hard-working and students are dedicated. Resources such as the camera I have requested will help students get a more realistic journalism education.
