Welcome! Our school serves 700 students in the 6th -8th grades. Our students are diverse in their life experiences and interests. In science, our students could be represented by the traditional bell-shaped curve, with gifted/advanced kids on the left, the "average" learner in the middle hump, and the students that need that little bit of extra support on the right. Regardless of their abilities, our students are motivated and engaged in the science discipline, often watching Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, and Science Channel over the traditional drama shows. Our students come to science class to learn, be engaged, investigate, and explore. I taught high school for 20 years. The 15-16 school year is my first year in middle school. I am finding that supplies in our science rooms are lacking and past teachers have had to "make do." I hope to change that so my students can be good scientists and feel like scientists.
