I live in a rural area and teach at a middle school. My students are 6th, 7th and 8th graders with very different abilities and interests. Last year my district decided that Financial Literacy was an important subject and added it to the required curriculum for middle school. The students are given jobs, have to maintain a checking account, research stocks and participate in the stock market experience, as well as learning about real life with subjects such as taxes, compound interest, comparison shopping etc.
