Not only do students enjoy opportunities to be flexible with their seating options, but it is also more conducive to their learning! Ultimately, students are children and children should not be expected to sit still throughout a school day. Having flexible seating options allows them to be able to move their bodies, while still maintaining their concentration in the classroom.
When students have the power to make choices that directly affect their learning, they feel empowered and are more-likely to be engaged. Students who are able to "wiggle while they work" are able to focus their attention on the tasks presented to them, without feeling the constraints of traditional seating.
The wobble stools and sit-fit cushions in this project would give students two different flexible seating choices. Twelve students would be able to use alternate seating, without compromising the limited space we have in our classroom.
