Since we are learning digitally, Scholastic Math magazines will help to enrich our learning of math. Students can read the magazine digitally and answer high interest, real life math problems. Scholastic News Magazines will be used in a variety of ways in our classroom. The videos that accompany the magazine will be used to hook and build background knowledge for the students before they start reading. Students will have opportunities to read the articles as a class, in small groups, and independently.
While reading Scholastic Math students will also study current events which helps them understand the importance of people, events, and issues in the news all while doing math! Students develop into informed citizens by engaging in the topics they read about and then completing real life math problems. This practice positively affects students reading habits and encourages lifelong learning!
