Here in a small, community school in the North End of Hartford our music program has grown exponentially. EVERY child in grades PK-8 receives music instruction and EVERY child in grades 2-8 has access to instruments. Our program boasts two performance ensembles in the middle school: a 6th grade band and an Honors Band of 7th and 8th grade students.
The Milner Music program's foundation rests on the concepts of honor, optimism, pride, empathy, and community. Music becomes an opportunity for the children to develop a second family that promotes their well being and celebrates every little accomplishment. They have not only given numerous school concerts and assemblies, but the Honors Band has performed at the Yard Goats stadium in downtown Hartford to a crowd of 2,000 teachers, administrators, and Hartford families.
We are small, but we are Milner Strong.
