The students at my school are from a variety of backgrounds including new immigrants to our country. We currently have 625 students and over half of them are English Language Learners (ELL). Our ELL students speak a variety of languages at home including Spanish, Swahili, Farsi, Arabic, Somali, Samoan and French. Our school is a Title 1 school with 100% of our students on free or reduced lunch program. Within our school, we have a Dual Language Program in Spanish and English, where students are instructed in English and Spanish. Many of our students do not have any books at home to enjoy reading and to practice their reading skills so they depend on our library to check out books. The library does not currently have a budget to buy books for our students. This project will help our students greatly. Thank you!
