My students are very interested in using today's technology. iPads are extremely engaging and motivating for my students. I currently have one iPad but would like a second iPad so that each student can use one during literacy center time. During literacy centers, two students are paired up to do an independent activity that will strengthen literacy skills such as phonics, phonemic awareness, onset and rime, syllables, and sight words. If I had a second iPad, each student could be utilizing their own iPad under their own name and then their progress can be monitored. I have a few iPad apps that are made for teachers and will track student progress and email me the data. I think that it is important to have various ways of assessing and monitoring students.
