The challenge to get the tennis program off the ground will have to be a collective group effort by the coach, players, parents and community. Our school district has recently closed schools, restructured boundary lines, combined schools and streamlined programs. Unfortunately, the district has very little or no funding available for a new sports program.
This first year tennis team is very dedicated and totally committed to beginning a long-term program which will benefit so many students for years to come.
The program will grow with the proper foundation we are about to create and the equipment, tennis balls, cart and racket grips, will be used year after year. The players will be able to practice 3-5 times per week and participate in inter-district matches involving both singles and doubles play. Our central administration is currently developing a new strategic plan to revitalize our schools and the NEW tennis program is just one more piece of that puzzle.
