My students are an awesome, energetic, and creative bunch of 1st through 5th graders! Every day, they come into my room filled with excitement about what the day's project will be and they enthusiastically greet activity. Our curriculum includes: the elements of art (1st grade), famous artists (2nd grade), art through time (3rd grade), art around the world (4th grade), and art and technology (5th grade). My students learn about so much in art class including line and shape, Pablo Picasso and Vincent van Gogh, Egyptian and Renaissance art, African masks and Chinese ink painting, and animation and 3-D printing. In all of this, it has been my goal to modernize the art classroom and increasingly make it more student-driven with a recent emphasis on choice and creative options. I hope to match the energy that my students bring to class with uniquely creative opportunities that teach them about more than just art.
