There are over 800 kids at our school. Of those 800+ kids, 93% of them are economically disadvantaged and more than 70% of them are Hispanic, where Spanish is the main language spoken at home. Our students are hard-working kids that come to school lacking foundational skills in language acquisition, which causes them to struggle in all content areas with the more rigorous Florida State Standards. They also often do not have a support system at home that can help them with math to see connections between what they are learning in school and how it relates to the real world.
