I teach in an underprivileged school in a tough neighborhood where family involvement is minimal. We are located in the projects of Jacksonville. Some of our students are bounced from home to home and never have any security besides what they get at school. Our school struggles with students acting out because of these family situations. 95% of our school receives free and reduced price lunch. We encourage inquiry, confidence, and growth in the classroom. Each student has their own talent and their own struggle. Finding a peaceful, safe place for them to explore is what my classroom is all about. They light up to see new things and learn how education can change their lives. My goal is for students to believe in themselves and excel in all aspects of life!
