My students live in rural Colorado in a constantly changing environment. We are the highest growing school district in our state due to the expansion and construction in our area. Sadly, we are also one of the lowest funded districts.
Many of my students have little to no access to computers other than at school. Our school only has around 100 computers and close to 800 students, so getting any time in a lab is tricky. The nearby Boys and Girls Club supports students after school with computer access, but they need more computer skills and work time.
Most of our students have almost no experience with simple yet vital computer programs such as Word, PowerPoint, Google, and so on. I would like to give them the time and opportunities to become efficient with these 21st Century Skills.
