Most of my students come from homes that do not have much. Our school provides free breakfast and lunch to our students daily. My first graders are energetic, fun, and eager to learn. They have been fantastic participants in our school-wide initiative the PEER Code (P= Perseverance, E=Enthusiasm, E=Exploration, R=Respect). My students believe in themselves and each other because our school truly is one big happy family. When you walk through the doors you feel at home. You feel safe. The students are eager to explore, they ask to take books home, even if they don't have homework. They enjoy coloring, building words, writing, and interactive activities on our new Smart Board. My students are my children. We learn together, laugh together, and sometimes even cry together. We are a community. They love things that are hands on, they love moving, singing, dancing, and being creative. It is my goal that with these supplies, students can be who they want to be, achieve goals, and grow.
