These materials have the potential to build confidence in my students. Students will be encouraged to think creatively, exploring real world situations. Student learning becomes more relevant when they are identifying, comparing, making and testing predictions, testing ideas, sharing materials, space, etc. Both the WeDo 2.0 kit and the early simple machine set will allow for this learning. Students will be up and about. Best practices in early childhood education is to move away from passive instruction and allow for play and investigation. This kind of learning early in life builds skills and the confidence that can serve the children throughout their life. These first graders will explore color, size, shapes, patterns, and quantities in the process. They will also explore many more books and other resources Your support in providing the necessary materials will open up so much possibility for my students, The opportunity to have and manipulate these STEM materials will surely allow students to develop their self confidence. They will then be able to build and transfer these skills to their schooling and create a solid foundation for future learning.
