I teach a wonderful group of students who are intellectually delayed and are in the third through the fifth grades. We are in a district, and more specifically in a school, where the majority of families live in poverty. My students are working on everyday life skills (i.e. - reading basic sight words, recognizing signs in the community, being able to order food at a restaurant, understanding the concept of money, dressing themselves, and being able to work a computer). Learning these skills requires time, repetition, and having things adapted to meet their needs. With your help, I know their needs can be supported and met!
