In our classroom we do novel studies on select books that are standard and grade appropriate. The students identify plot, characters, setting, and theme of the novel and then after the completion of the novel, they create projects to accompany the novel. This showcases their creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and communication skills. They are allowed to work with a partner or in groups and choose from a menu of project options. Many times, they need to print out pictures and do not have access to a printer at home. Having a printer in the classroom will further their creativity and production as well. They will learn how to use a printer which will be useful in the workforce. Please help provide my students with a much needed printer for our classroom and a classroom set of the novel The Outsiders.
