Our school district is considered the most poorly funded in the state of Colorado. Approximately 60% of our students qualify for free and reduced lunch. Another 40% are classified as non- English language learners. Class sizes can be quite large, with some having over 30 students in a class. Our teachers work hard at providing the best opportunity for students to learn, with some of our teachers paying their own expenses to attend conferences to stay abreast of the latest teaching strategies. Many of our students do not have family members that have earned a high school diploma. Our students are eager to learn and want to break that cycle. Their creativity and desire to do quality work gives them a feeling of accomplishment and a strong self-worth. All students participate in a program known as CREW in which students are taught to work together and feel a sense of belonging and they accomplish personal and group goals, while volunteering to better our local community.
