We plan to start our writing series by writing narrative essays using personification. We will call the project, "A Day in the Life of My Shoes." Students will write stories from the perspective of their shoes and bring life to their shoes by using personification. They will give the shoes a name, a personality, and reflect on what it is like to be someone's shoes. This is a fun writing project that uses figurative language and lots of imagination.
If our project is funded, we will have the opportunity to see our work in print right away. My students will be able to create vibrant stories and watch the words jump off the page. They really enjoy experimenting with different fonts and colors. They also like using various programs to bring a bit of variety to their stories.
Having a printer in our room would be such a great gift. It would equate to numerous writing possibilities. In addition, we would be able to use Google Docs more frequently and edit our work the same day. Our narrative writing pieces will delight the senses, our argument papers will leave no room for rebuttal, and the words of our expository writing pieces will leap across the page. We dream of a world in print and we hope our donors will help our dreams come true!
