If students are inspired at a young age to see beauty in Science, the gain a deeper appreciation for the world around them. Instead of a traditional sit and get educational setting, our school is hands on, inquiry, and student driven education that is facilitated by the teacher. My hope is that by filling my classroom with both living examples and models of the beauty all around us, my students will develop an appreciation for the world around them, and seek to find solutions to the problems that face us, both now, and in the future. While watching an interview on "If/Then" with Beata Mierza, a microbiologist and artist, she stated that she was inspired by a teacher who taught her about DNA and cells, she learned to see the beauty of science. It is my hope that I can be that teacher for my students!
