The equipment that I am requesting will go to great use on the field and in the classroom. Not only will this soccer and training equipment be used for the soccer team, it will also be shared with the physical fitness classes that our school will be implementing this school year. Many of the athletes on the soccer team have been playing for years with hand-me-down equipment from family or friends. In our current situation, the equipment that the team does have is very limited. With a new ball pack, it will allow the athletes to get a much larger amount of coaching. Currently, we only have a couple of used soccer balls which limits the amount of work and training the players can do. With many student athletes playing for the first time as well, the greater number of soccer balls will allow them to get greater training in the basics, while the more advanced athletes can work on different aspects of their game. During the season, our practice sessions range from 90 minutes to 2 hours. On game days, student athletes play 80 minute games. Our boy's team plays in the fall, and co-ed is in the spring. We continue to train in the off-season as an after-school activity.
The donations to this project will help our student athletes become the best they can be on the field and provide them with a productive after-school activity that will build their character and keep them healthy. With this new soccer equipment, student athletes at my school will be able to fully participate in practices in order to compete to the best of their abilities on the field. This is incredibly important in helping the athletes build their character and learn to work together as a team.
