My students are a diverse group who care for one another and for learning. We are a Title I school and 95% of my students are on free or reduced lunch. Many come from low income households. They look forward to coming to school each day. At our school, each student repeats an affirmation that ends with "I will apply what I learn and meet my goals and I WILL graduate from college one day." To help make this affirmation a reality, having nonfiction books, literacy manipulatives, and an organized classroom is essential to their success.
