Think back to when you were in elementary school. How much did you enjoy sitting criss-cross on the comfy rug and listening to a story? Now imagine a 2nd grade classroom with hard, cold tile for students to sit on! A rug is such a crucial part of the classroom learning environment.
The rug provides students with a designated space for reading, math, social studies and science lessons.
Having a comfortable rug gives students the chance to get out of their seats and learn in a different setting!
I want to keep my students engaged throughout the day. In order to do this, I like to vary where different types of instruction take place, such as at desk, the guided reading table, and on the carpet. The carpet allows me to teach mini-lessons and facilitate turn-and-talks. The rug will also provide a much-needed place for students to get comfortable while working in math and reading centers. By donating towards this rug, you will helping create a space for my exceptional students to learn comfortably, all day long!
