We are Kindergarteners - Sixth Graders that seek knowledge and love to read! The Library is a central part of the school - an open and welcoming place where students are encouraged to read daily and read in new ways.
One of the ways to both reach students and to help them meet the demands of the science curriculum is to encourage and provide opportunities to read non-fiction. Many of our students love this part of the Library, and really enjoy learning about the natural world. Animal books are always popular, along with science and technology related books (such as those about astronauts or engineering), along with biographies. They are encouraged to read from a variety of genres and are exposed to many through read-alouds, teacher modeling, and lessons designed to pique their curiosity.
With an average copyright date of 1996, Patterson's Library is in need of some new and fun titles that will help build knowledge and lead to further inquiry!
