Students learn differently and it has become an issue when we focus on standardizing materials. The way that I will encourage students to take control of their learning is by creating their own interactive notebook with the requested composition notebooks and colored pencils where they will be the ones who decided how they will organize new materials and concepts.
Inside of these notebooks students will add key words, graphic organizers and draw what comes to mind when learning about science. These notebooks will not only help them with organization skills, it will also encourage students to be artistic and most importantly make themselves accountable for their learning. In middle school it is hard to get students enthusiastic about learning, and as teachers we need to find fun, interactive ways to encourage that!"
