Children learn best through play and being able to use their imagination. Kindergarten students must be able to actively play, explore, and manipulate objects in the classroom. This is what makes learning fun for them. However this is challenging during a national pandemic. Returning to school this year means that we have many new guidelines and restrictions to follow in order to keep our students safe.
COVID-19 does not take away the importance of play in kindergarten.
In order for my students to have the materials they need to be able to play, explore, and create I need materials that can be separated and stored for each individual child. We can no longer share items this year.
The materials that I am requesting will allow my students to be able to create and use their imaginations-all while learning. I will create a basket for each child that is full of materials for them to use during arrival, on in door recess days, and after they have completed their work. Many children do not get the opportunity to explore and use their imagination at home and these materials will allow them the opportunity to do what is crucial in their development.
