Students are all unique, they learn differently and should be able to do so in spaces that provide comfort. Sitting in a rigid chair at a desk is difficult for a five year old. Rigid chairs aren’t comfortable or comforting. When my students have choices in their seating they make better behavior and learning choices. That’s paramount to a five year old’s ability to learn.
Flexible seating will allow students to read, write, complete math work and share in seating that is as unique as they are. Kindergartners are naturally active, flexible seating will give them more freedom and independence as they learn and create.
