My students are excited to come to school each morning and have a positive outlook on the day ahead of them. Coming from conditions where they do not even have their basic needs met, school is a safe place for them. I want to provide the best possible comfortable and engaging classroom environment to meet their educational needs.
My goal is for each and every one of them to learn and achieve to their fullest potential. By the mid morning through the afternoon that becomes difficult with the heat of our late summer, early fall, and spring heat waves. The boys and girls become even more lethargic from their sleepless night and struggle to concentrate on the learning tasks at hand because our classroom temperature. Some of them do not even want to go outdoors for recess and physical activity. They are already too hot inside and know it will just be that much worse when they come back in for more learning.
An air conditioner will not just cool our classroom down. It will provide the conditions necessary to keep my students engaged and excited about learning. With a comfortable classroom the boys and girls can thrive in each subject and have fun doing so.
