Every year our school has a pumpkin project. They turn pumpkins into their favorite book characters. This is always a hardship for some of my students to be able to have the materials to complete the project.
One year I had to buy them all pumpkins. I solved this problem by planting pumpkins. Everyone had a pumpkin and this year I have grown some as well.
The problem is that I do not have enough money to purchase the paints that they need. Also, finding books that they can easily understand has been a problem.
Therefore, the paint, googly eyes, and glitter will help transform their pumpkins into characters that they can be proud of. The books will help with comprehension for the students to be able to work on their project. The journals will be a great help with writing their project.
There are two phases to this project. The students have to decorate the pumpkin then write a book report about the character that they created. They also have to write a step by step process on how they created their character.
