Reading is essential to every student. However, it is a skill that my students struggle with everyday. One way to improve reading skills it to have students interact with good quality literature at their reading level. My students function at a Pre-k to Kindergarten level, however we are a 5-8 school. Therefore, our library does not have books for my students available. We must create a classroom library that provides books that are appropriate for my students.
My students love to look at and interact with books. They love books with bright pictures and fun photos. We use books in our classroom to reinforce science and social studies concepts. We read about ways to be kind to others.
Mostly we will use these books to develop a love of reading and literature in our very special classroom.
