Technology is an essential part of today's elementary classroom. It can provide students with learning experiences that go beyond the four walls of the classroom. The laptops I have requested will be used to assist struggling readers increase their reading fluency and comprehension through web based reading programs. English Language Learners will benefit from the laptops by using an interactive program designed to increase their English Language proficiency. All students will have access to the laptops for internet research, typing programs, and a plethora of educational websites. All students will also have access to a virtual online library.
Technology isn't their future, it's their present! As I prepare my third grade students for college or careers, it is imperative that they become technologically savvy. It is incumbent upon me to provide as many opportunities as I can for them to use technology. With every swing of the budget ax, it becomes more difficult for me to do this. It is only through the generosity of donors who are committed to education, that I will be able to help provide the future my students deserve.
