The flexible seating classroom is designed to create an inviting learning atmosphere. It allows for a warming environment with children that have choice to move about the room and find comfort in a special space. Yoga balls provide movement for students with ADHD and bean bag chairs are a relaxing spot to pick up a book and read. In my class room project based learning is utilized and the individual learning styles will be enhanced by optional seating for independent work. Flexible seating is being praised for the new way to make classrooms student centered. Many students are no longer successful in the traditional desk seating. In my flexible seating classroom two students may pull ip a stool and work at the counter by the sink and water fountain. one student could prefer the large bean bag and a clip board on the floor to complete assignments. Others may want to stay in a chair and use the wobble seat for a movable but still structured seat. Yoga balls are great for ADHD students allowing them to roll right up to their desk, focus on the work in front of them, and coast back and forth at the same time.
