Children with ASD will engage in self-stimulatory behaviors. At times these behaviors get in the way of their attending to a task and the learning process is hindered. I am hoping that the items being requested will offer my students a healthy outlet and relief while in the classroom.
The sensory toys I am requesting will help and aid in giving my students ways to appropriately self-regulate throughout the day. These materials will make a difference in my students learning and improve their school lives. The smallest things such as sensory items, make a world of a difference to these children!
Some of my students engage in oral sensory stimulation with objects in the classroom that aren't safe and student friendly; the oral motor toys I am requesting will serve as a safer alternative. The chair band will help the students stay seated in their chairs while engaging in their school tasks. The fidget toys are great for keeping their hands busy so they aren't touching objects that might cause them and can serve as a tool to self soothe.
