The funds for this project will go towards the purchase of two new Chromebooks for the Middle School resource room. These Chromebooks will be used daily in a variety of ways. Many of my students struggle with reading fluency and comprehension. Hearing a text read aloud while they follow along is a proven way to build these skills. Chromebooks in the resource room will allow the students to listen to high interest texts of their choosing and help them become stronger readers.
As technology becomes more and more integrated into the students' everyday classes, an increasing number of their assignments require computer and internet access in order to complete. My students frequently need assistance in completing these assignments so having the right tools available in the resource room is essential.
Finally, many of my students struggle to retain information presented in the general education classroom and benefit when important content is repeated many times. The Chromebooks would allow the students to quiz themselves prior to tests using customizable interactive websites that repeat questions until the students demonstrate mastery of the material.
